Back to the Face-Mask-Face…
Have you notice the skin under your mask feeling dry, looking red, breaking out or generally feeling sensitive?

This is due to a number of factors, all involving your face mask:

• Constant friction of the mask against the skin
• Warm, moist air getting trapped in the mask dehydrates the skin
• Certain fabrics leach the moisture, natural oils and hydration from your skin
• Sweat, make-up and dirt sits on re-usable masks and may contaminate the skin if not washed regularly

Here are our tips to keeping the skin under your mask happy and healthy:

• Use a PH balanced cleanser, containing Salicylic, acid twice a day. The Salicylic acid penetrates down to the hair follicle where breakouts start and assists with exfoliation which helps prevent the build-up of dead skin cells and congestion. Salicylic acid is also very effective as a brightening agent, assisting in reducing any marks or pigmentation caused from breakouts.
• Use a calming balm to help settle any skin irritation
• A good moisturiser will keep your skin well hydrated and healthy
• Use an effective lip balm which will restore moisture to the lips
• Avoid heavy foundations which may block your pores
• Choose a cotton-lined mask, which is breathable and less likely to irritate the skin

In addition to your usual Optiphi or Dermaceutic cleanser & moisturiser, we recommend Optiphi Calm Balm, which effectively settles redness, irritation and skin sensitivities; and Optiphi Active Lip Formula to rebuild the barrier and restore moisture to the skin. For a breathable and oxygenating foundation, try Oxygenetix. It breathes, protects and heals as you wear it.
